Conner Lee Perkins

April 11th
I went to my last doctors appointment at 8:50 am planning on heading to work right after.  Because I was past due, my doctor wanted to check Conner's fluid level, if everything looked good, I would not be induced until Saturday the 14th.  The ultrasound showed the most fluid he had was in his bladder, which doesn't count :) other then that there was next to nothing.  She sent me right down to labor and delivery to get started on Pitocin. I made a few calls... first to Cody, who didn't believe me at first then to work and family to let them know we were having a baby today!

I was started on Pitocin at about 10:00 am.  Cody made it to the hospital shortly after.  Labor wasn't so bad.  We were just playing the waiting game ALL DAY.
Cody wanted to be sure to get a picture of me sending some last minute work email while in Labor.  Like I mentioned, I was on my way to work, so I had to tell them what still needed to be done
My Doctor broke my water and we were well on our way.  I started pushing at 10:10 pm and we had a beautiful baby boy born at 12:51am on April 12th 2012.  You do the math... that's three hours of pushing (almost).  I would recommend getting a good night sleep the night before if you can help it :)  I didn't and I think I was double exhausted.

Conner was 8 lbs 3 oz and they measured him to be 19 1/4" long.  However, a week later at his Well Baby appointment he magically grew two inches.  I think someone measured wrong at the hospital :)

Conner swallowed some Maconium on his way out.  You can see here we are both covered in poo...  Don't mind the cloth on my head.

Conner was working over time too.  He came out with a BIG Cone Head... and poo on his face.

He got some Maconium in his lungs so they had to give him some oxygen.
He got to see some visitors just moments after birth, then the nurse took him to the Nursery to give him a chest xray- because there was so much in his lungs and his Oxygen Saturation level was not very high he was admitted to the NICU and treated for Pneumonia.  His lungs were clear less than 24 hours later, but they had to keep him there to finish his antibiotic treatment.

IV of Antibiotic right in his head!  What a tough guy we have.

Glad Brooke got some Pictures in the NICU.  We should have taken more.

Ready to go home... finally.  Three days in the hospital is too long.  We feel for the little premie's that are there long term.

Lots of wrist bands.

Aunt Brooke... It's true, Conner thinks she is awesome!

His cousins, Hope and Brielle came to visit with Aunt Natalie, she is AWESOME TOO!

First bath.  Conner hated it!

But he survived.

Conner and Dad love snuggling together.  Conner's favorite way to fall asleep.

Great Oma and Opa came to visit

I love watching him sleep from the doorway!

We are so happy Conner is here.  We love him SO much.  We love to just sit and watch him.  It is amazing how much we loved him the minute he was born, but that love has only grown every single day as we get to know him.  He has THE CUTEST yawn you have ever heard.  It freaked Brooke out the first time.  When he frowns he looks like a little man.  He loves to stretch.  There is no keeping his arms in that blanket.  And he loved to EAT!  He gulps everything down that he can while nursing and bottle feeding.  The nurses asked if he moved a lot before he was born because he is always wiggling even in his sleep.  He is one gassy little guy though... probably from the gulping.

I have to give a shout out to all our friends and family.  I have been overwhelmed by the love and support and service for us.  We have had several people bring us dinner, or call to see how we are doing, coming to visit baby Conner and me.  We Love the company!  We love you all and appreciate all you have done for us!

I'm sure you all have wonderful husbands, but I don't know what I would do without Cody.  He is the sweetest husband around.  I feel like I can never express in words how much he means to me.  Cody stayed with me in the hospital 24/7 and got me everything I needed!  He went with me to the NICU EVERY TIME to feed Conner.  That's every three hours.  At home he has been so patient with me, making sure I don't try to do too much work.  He has picked up the house and done little things to make me feel beautiful.  He will feed Conner once or twice a night so I can sleep.  He will take Conner when he is fussy and can calm him right down.  And there is so much more that qualifies him as the best husband and dad.  I love you Cody!
